View full detailsThe Outdoor Plus builds handcrafted fire pits, fire tables and fire bowls in Ontario, California — GFRC concrete, hammered copper and powder-coated steel, every piece made to order in the USA. We are an authorized dealer, and delivery is included on everything below.
The manufacturer sells wholesale only. Its own business listing says plainly that it is not open to the public, so every Outdoor Plus fire pit in the country is bought through a dealer. That changes what you are actually shopping for. The pieces are identical wherever you buy them, and dealer prices sit in a narrow band, so what genuinely differs is who tells you the truth about lead time, who arranges the freight properly, and who picks up the phone when the igniter needs a part in year three.
That is the job we take seriously. If you would rather talk it through than click, call us on 1 800 914 0074 and we will size it with you.
The most common mistake is going too small. A fire pit is furniture — it needs to hold the seating group around it, not perch at the edge of it. Leave roughly three feet of walking room on every side.
| Size | Seats around it | Suits | In this range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48" | 4–6 people | Courtyards, condo decks, smaller patios | Del Mar 48", Sedona 48", Unity 48", Coronado 48" |
| 56"–60" | 6–8 people | The average backyard patio | Del Mar 60", Cabo 56", Unity 60", Coronado 60" |
| 72" | 8–10 people | Large patios and pool surrounds | Unity 72", Coronado 72" |
| 84"–108" | 10 or more | Resort-scale terraces and event spaces | Coronado XL |
One warning on the largest sizes, because it catches people out: the Coronado XL at 84", 96" and 108" ships back of truck rather than on a liftgate. You need a forklift or a tractor with forks on site to take it off the trailer. If you do not have one, tell us before you order and we will work out the delivery with you.
All four materials are built to live outdoors year round. The difference is how they look on day one and how they look in year five.
| Material | Looks like | Ages like | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| GFRC concrete | Matte architectural stone in 18-plus finishes | Holds its colour; stable and low maintenance | You want it to match pavers or hardscape |
| Hammered copper | Hand-worked, warm, genuinely metallic | Develops a living patina that keeps changing | You want the fire feature to be the focal point |
| Powder-coated steel | Clean, solid, furniture-like colour | Keeps the finish it arrived with | You are matching existing furniture or trim |
| Corten steel | Raw weathering steel | Rusts deliberately to a stable orange-brown | You want a modern, industrial look |
GFRC stands for glass fibre reinforced concrete. The glass fibre is what lets these pieces be cast thin and sharp-edged without cracking the way plain cast concrete does, which is why the Del Mar can sit only fifteen inches off the ground and still read as solid stone.
Copper and Corten are meant to change. If a uniform factory finish for the next decade is what you want, choose concrete or powder-coated steel instead — a patina is not a fault, but it is a preference.
Decide this before you order, because the burner is built for one fuel and the piece is made to order. It is not a setting you change later.
If you are having a patio built anyway, running the gas line while the ground is already open is far cheaper than adding it afterwards.
This is where the price on the same fire pit can nearly double, and it is the option people understand least. All five are gas; the difference is how the flame gets lit and what happens if it blows out.
| System | How you light it | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Match Lit | Turn the key valve and hold a long lighter to the burner | You want the lowest price and the fewest things that can fail |
| Match Lit with Flame Sense | Same, plus a sensor that shuts the gas off if the flame goes out | Children, guests or a rental property |
| Flame Sense with Spark Ignition | Push-button spark, with the same flame safety cut-off | You would rather not carry a lighter outside |
| Low Voltage Electronic | A wall switch or a remote | Guests should never be near the burner to light it |
| Plug and Play | Plug into a standard outlet and press a button | You want the least fuss and the setup is near power |
Our honest steer: for a home you use yourself, Match Lit is reliable and saves real money. For a short-term rental or anywhere guests operate it, pay for a flame-sensing system. It is the one upgrade that is about safety rather than convenience.
Nothing here sits in a warehouse. The manufacturer confirms a build time of three to four weeks, and freight adds roughly another week to ten days on top, so plan on four to six weeks from order to your driveway. Anyone promising you a made-to-order Outdoor Plus piece next week is guessing.
Delivery is included in the price you see. Your piece ships on a freight truck and the carrier calls you to arrange a delivery window, so someone needs to be there. Most pieces arrive on a liftgate truck to the driveway or curb; the Coronado XL sizes are the back-of-truck exception noted above.
When it arrives, look it over before you sign. Freight damage is rare and it is fixable, but only if it is written on the delivery paperwork at the time. Photograph the crate before it comes off the truck if anything looks knocked about.
Your finish, fuel and ignition are chosen and then the piece is built. That is why the range of looks is so wide, and it is also why these are not returnable the way a boxed item off a shelf is. It is worth ten minutes on the phone before you order rather than a surprise afterwards — we would far rather help you get it right first time.
Is The Outdoor Plus a good brand?
Yes, with a caveat worth understanding. The build quality is genuinely high — hand-finished, CSA and LC certified ignition options, made in California rather than imported. The caveat is that it is a made-to-order product with a real lead time, so it suits someone planning a patio, not someone who wants a fire going this weekend.
Where are The Outdoor Plus fire pits made?
Ontario, California. Every piece is built there to order.
What is GFRC concrete?
Glass fibre reinforced concrete — concrete with glass fibre through it for strength. It allows thin, sharp, architectural shapes that ordinary cast concrete cannot hold, and it stands up to freeze and thaw far better.
Can I switch from propane to natural gas later?
Not by flipping a switch. The burner is built for the fuel you choose, so pick the one that matches your property before you order.
Can it stay outside all winter?
Yes. These are built to live outdoors permanently. Use a cover to keep rain, leaves and snow out of the burner, and if you are somewhere that freezes hard, make sure water is not sitting in the pan.
Does the flame blow out in wind?
On an exposed patio it can. A glass wind guard sits around the flame and solves it, and it is the single most common thing people wish they had ordered at the same time. We stock them to fit.
How long does delivery take?
Four to six weeks door to door: three to four weeks to build, then freight. Delivery is included.
Do I need a professional to install it?
For propane, generally no — connect the tank and you are running. For natural gas, yes: a licensed gas fitter should make the final connection. We can help you find someone local if you need a name.
