Outdoor Saunas

Guests do not filter listings for "nice deck" — they filter for sauna, and then book the one property that actually has one. Our range covers cedar and pine barrel saunas, square cabins, and thermowood units, seating two people up to eight, priced from $4,295 to $11,995.

Every sauna ships with its heater included, most of them a Harvia — the Finnish brand the industry standardizes on — so you are not sourcing or pricing that separately. Barrel saunas need the least site preparation of any style; a level pad is enough to get started.

A sauna is also one of the few outdoor purchases that gets more valuable in winter, which is exactly when most short-term rentals are struggling to fill nights. Browse by style below, or see how the different wood options hold up over time further down the page.

Outdoor Saunas for Short-Term Rental Hosts

A sauna is the amenity that pulls a property out of the comparison set entirely. Guests do not filter for "nice deck" — they filter for sauna, and then they book the one property that has one. Our range covers cedar and pine barrel saunas, square cabin saunas and thermowood units, seating two people up to eight, priced from $4,295 for a Finland pine barrel to $11,995 for an eight-person red cedar cabin. Every unit ships with its heater included.

Saunas are also one of the few outdoor purchases that get more valuable in winter, which is when most short-term rentals are struggling to fill nights.

Barrel Saunas

The classic round profile, and the most heat-efficient shape there is — the curve means less air to warm, so it comes up to temperature faster and holds it on less power. Also the easiest to site: a barrel needs no foundation beyond a level pad. Our barrel range starts at $4,295.

Square & Cabin Saunas

More usable interior for the same footprint, more headroom, and a shape that reads as a building rather than an object — which matters if the sauna is going somewhere visible. Arnica's cedar square saunas seat four to six with adjustable benches.

Saunas With a Porch

A covered front porch gives guests somewhere to cool down between rounds without going back indoors, which is how a sauna is actually used. It also keeps snow and rain off the door. Available across the Liatris, Anémona and Aster ranges.

Two-Person Saunas

For couples' properties and smaller lots. The Aris thermowood two-person is Estonian-made and takes up about the footprint of a garden shed, while still being a real sauna rather than a cabinet.

Large Group Saunas

Six to eight people, for group-booking properties and lodges where the sauna is the reason the whole party came. The Camellia red cedar seats seven to eight and includes Bluetooth audio.

Cold Plunge & Wood-Fired Hot Tubs

The other half of the ritual. Cedar ice baths from $1,695 and wood-fired hot tubs from $2,995 — several of which double as a cold plunge, so you are buying one tub instead of two.

Which Wood?

Wood What it is like Where it makes sense
Red cedar Naturally rot- and insect-resistant, stays cool to the touch, and has the scent people associate with a sauna. The premium option. Wet climates, coastal properties, and anywhere the sauna is a headline amenity worth photographing.
Finland / Scots pine Lighter in color and the most affordable way into a real sauna. Performs well; needs a little more upkeep than cedar over the years. Getting a sauna onto the listing without a five-figure spend.
Thermowood Pine that has been heat-treated to change its structure, which makes it far more dimensionally stable — it moves less through freeze-thaw cycles. Cold climates with hard winters, where seasonal movement is what eventually damages a sauna.
Canadian hemlock Smooth, pale, almost knot-free, and low-aroma for guests who find cedar overpowering. Modern properties and interiors where the look is meant to be clean rather than rustic.

What You Need to Know Before You Buy

What does a sauna need on site?

A level, load-bearing pad — concrete, pavers or a properly built deck — and power. Most of these units run on a 6kW to 8kW Harvia electric heater, which needs a dedicated circuit installed by an electrician. Budget for that alongside the sauna itself. Barrel saunas need the least site preparation of any style.

Is the heater included?

Yes. Every sauna in this range ships with its heater — most with a Harvia, which is the Finnish brand the industry standardizes on. Stones are included. You are not buying the heater separately.

How long does it take to heat up?

Typically 30 to 45 minutes to reach temperature from cold, faster in a barrel than a square cabin of the same capacity. For a rental, that is worth knowing when you write the house manual — guests need to be told to switch it on before dinner, not after.

Can it stay outside through winter?

That is what it is built for. These are outdoor saunas with weather-rated exteriors, and winter is when they get used most. Thermowood handles severe freeze-thaw best. In heavy snow country, keep the roof clear and the door swing shoveled.

How much maintenance is there between guests?

Less than most hosts expect. Wipe the benches, air it out, and check the stones are still covering the elements. An annual wash and a treatment of the exterior is the real maintenance, and that is a once-a-season job.

Do I need to worry about liability?

Talk to your insurer before it arrives, not after — most policies handle it, but they want to know. Post clear rules: no unsupervised children, no alcohol, a time limit, and how to get out. Fit the door so it opens outward and never locks, which is how these are built.

What does delivery cost?

Saunas ship by freight truck and delivery is charged at cost, never marked up. What it comes to depends on your address, whether you need a lift gate, and whether it is a residential delivery. Use the Request a Custom Quote button on any sauna page and we will come back with a real delivered number before you commit to anything. You will not be asked to pay first and find out later.

Talk It Through First

Sauna sizing is easy to get wrong in both directions — too small and it stops being the amenity you paid for, too large and you are heating empty benches every session. Tell us how many people your property sleeps and where the sauna would go, and we will tell you which one fits. Get in touch.
