The Countertop

An eight-foot top is a lot of stone, and shipping that much weight costs more than the stone does. A local fabricator beats a shipped top on price and hands you the full range of materials while doing it: granite, quartz, soapstone, poured concrete, whatever suits the property.

How it works: you order the island, and we send you the cutout dimensions for the Blaze components going into it. Take those to any stone yard. Most will template off the assembled island, which is the most accurate way to do it anyway. At this length, ask them about seam placement before they cut.

Call us before you order the stone. We'll tell you what holds up outdoors in your climate and what doesn't, and that conversation costs you nothing either way.

What You Order Separately

The grill and appliances are ordered separately. This is the island: the welded frame and the cladding. The top and the appliances are yours to source. The island is cut for Blaze components, specifically the BLZ-4LTE3 grill, BLZ-DDC-R-LTSC double door cabinet, BLZ-TREC-DRW-H drawer set, and the BLZ-SSRF-5.5 refrigerator. Those are chosen because they're what the maker's dealers sell most. Other brands can be accommodated on a custom build. Tell us what you want in it and we'll work out the whole plan with you.

What Takes Real Work

Freight is a separate cost. Delivery isn't free and isn't included in the price. Checkout doesn't collect it only because we don't know your address until you order, and a crate this size gets priced address by address. We quote the real freight for where you are, send it as its own invoice, and it's paid before your grill island leaves the factory.

Level ground matters more at this size. Eight feet of island on uneven ground becomes a problem fast. Get a concrete pad or solid pavers, and if you're on bare soil, that's foundation work. Don't skip it.

Gas connection is a professional job. You want it done right and certified, and that cost sits on top of the island.

Honest About Lead Time

The factory is quoting 3 to 4 weeks from order to shipped. If the size and finish you want is already on the shelf, it leaves within 5 business days, which puts it on your patio in about two weeks. We check with the factory when you order and tell you which of those you're looking at before you commit.

Questions We Hear

Can I put this on a deck? Yes, and that's one of the reasons the frame is aluminum. A clad island runs about 30 lb per linear foot, which the manufacturer describes as ideal for most wood decks or patios without footers. Have your builder confirm the load for your specific deck, but unlike a stone kitchen, this is a realistic deck build.

Which cladding should I pick? The 4 x 4 slat is the middle ground and the most ordered. The 2 x 2 gives a finer, more repeated line that suits a modern patio. The 140 is a flat panel with no slat lines, which reads cleanest and hides dirt best on a property in constant use. All three are powder-coated aluminum needing no sealing and no seasonal maintenance, and none of them costs more than the others.

Where do I get the countertop? A local stone yard. We send you the Blaze cutout dimensions and they take it from there, usually templating off the assembled island once it's built. At eight feet the saving over a shipped top is substantial, and you get the full range of materials. Ask them about seam placement before they cut.

Can I add accessories later? Yes. The frame is modular, so a side burner, chiller, or smoker attachment can be added. Plan them now or add them as you go.

Do I need a cover? Yes. A cover extends appliance life and keeps the island clean between guests. Budget for one.

How much can I do myself? Assembly and leveling, comfortably. Gas work must be professional, and grill and refrigeration setup should be too.

What if the aluminum corrodes? It doesn't corrode the way steel does. It can oxidize into a white powdery surface, which is cosmetic only. You won't get rust holes.
