A rectangle fire pit lets you sit the way a dinner table does. Benches along the sides, the fire running the length between them. Everybody's part of the conversation without crowding around a point.

What Takes Real Work

Level ground is everything. Sloped or soft ground and the burner won't work right, doors won't close, you have a problem. Concrete, pavers, or a proper foundation. Get it level.

Finishing is on you. Stucco is quick. Tile or stone takes longer and costs more. The frame is ready. Picking your finish and getting it done is the work.

Gas connection should be professional. If you're not confident, hire someone. Getting the pressure and connection right is not a DIY moment.

Can I use this without finishing it (just leave the frame?) — Technically yes, but the frame will oxidize over time. Finishing protects it and makes it look intentional. We recommend finishing it.

How much will the finish cost? — Depends on what you pick. Stucco over the frame runs $300–$600 for materials if you DIY. Tile or stone $800–$2,000+ depending on design and who installs it. Budget separately for this.

Is this better than a 36" square or 48" round? — Different purposes. 36" square is more compact. 48" round is classic. 48×32 rectangle is best for defined patio spaces and entertaining groups. Pick based on your yard and what you want to look at.
