Smokeless & Portable Fire Pits

Smokeless fire pits made in the USA, from $335. Engineered airflow burns the smoke off before it reaches the people sitting around it, so nobody goes home smelling of campfire. They collapse flat for storage, and nothing on them is electrical.

Smokeless & Portable Fire Pits

The reason most fire pits get used once and then ignored for the rest of a stay is smoke. It stings eyes, it moves every time the wind does, and it sends everyone back indoors smelling of campfire — hair, coats, clothes — and that smell transfers straight onto your cushions, throws and soft furnishings. A smokeless fire pit fixes the thing people actually complain about. These are made in the USA, they collapse flat for storage, and they start at $335.

How Smokeless Actually Works

There is no filter and nothing electrical. What you are buying is airflow.

Wood smoke is unburnt fuel — gas and fine particles that escaped the fire before they got hot enough to ignite. A smokeless pit gives that escaping smoke a second chance. Air is drawn in through protected holes in the base and up through the hollow legs, where the fire itself heats it. That superheated air is then injected back in at the top of the bowl, right where the smoke is rising. The smoke ignites and burns off instead of drifting into the people sitting around the fire. That second ignition is called secondary combustion.

Two useful side effects. The fire burns hotter, because you are now burning fuel that would otherwise have gone up the chimney. And it burns cleaner, so there is far less ash to shovel out between guests.

Worth knowing before you buy: The Forge and Forge Mini have secondary combustion built into the fire pit itself — they are smokeless out of the box, nothing to add. The Farrier and Anvil are air-slot designs that cut smoke considerably but are not full secondary-combustion pits on their own. Secondary Combustion attachments do exist for both — ask us and we will sort it out for you. We would rather tell you this now than have you find out on the first evening.

The Four Pits, Side by Side

Pit Price Size Smoke Best for
The Farrier
Natural, Black or Stainless
$335 24"W x 21.6"L, 12" deep
Folds to under 1"
12 air slots — much reduced The cheapest way to put a real fire pit on a property. Folds almost flat, so it stores in a closet out of season.
The Anvil
Graphite or Carbon corten
$523 32"W x 21.6"L, 14" deep
Folds to under 1"
24 air slots — much reduced The Farrier's bigger sibling in weathering corten steel. Deeper and wider, so it holds a longer fire for a full group.
The Forge Mini $608 22" square, 19" inside, 10" deep
Folds to under 6"
Fully smokeless Small patios, balconies and cabins. Genuinely smokeless in a footprint that will not swallow a small deck.
The Forge $793 32" square, 29.5" inside, 12.5" deep
Folds to under 6"
Fully smokeless The one to buy if the fire pit is meant to be the reason people booked. Holds more firewood than any other smokeless pit on the market, so you are not tending it all evening.

If your property sleeps six or more and the outdoor space is part of the listing, The Forge is the honest recommendation. If you want smokeless on a small deck, take the Mini. If budget is the constraint, the Farrier at $335 is a lot of fire pit for the money.

Why These Suit a Rental Specifically

They fold flat

The Farrier and Anvil collapse to under an inch. The Forge and Forge Mini to under six. That means the pit comes off the patio during a burn ban, over winter, or whenever a guest should not have access to it — and it goes into a shed rather than sitting out getting weathered and photographed badly.

Tool-free assembly

The Farrier and Anvil slide together in four pieces with no tools at all. The Forge and Forge Mini arrive flat-packed and go together with a coin or a flathead. A property manager can set one up without a call to you.

Corten weathers on purpose

The Anvil, and the body of the Forge Mini, are A606-4 corten steel. It develops an orange-brown patina over the first season, and that patina is what stops the rust going deeper. No cover, no storage, no treatment — it just gets better looking.

Made in the USA

The Forge is built in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The whole range is American-made, which is a genuine talking point for a listing and, more practically, means parts and support actually exist.

Your first fire is included

Every pit ships with a 4-pack of Fatwood firestarters. Small thing, but it means the pit works the evening it arrives.

Turn It Into a Grill

All four take cooking attachments, which quietly turns a fire pit into a second amenity for guests:

  • Adjustable Swivel Grill Kit — $120. A 20" x 20" stainless cooking surface that swings in and out over the fire and adjusts for height. Fits the Forge directly; fits the Farrier and Anvil with the mounting bracket below.
  • Grill Mounting Bracket — $24. What the swivel grill needs to attach to a Farrier or an Anvil instead of being staked into the ground.
  • The Blade Searing Plate — $103. Food-grade 304 stainless flat-top with grease drain slots, for the Forge. Steaks and burgers rather than marshmallows.
  • Rectangle Grill Grate — $42. A straightforward 15" x 16" grate for the Farrier and Anvil.

Questions Hosts Ask

Is it really smokeless, or just less smoky?

On the Forge and Forge Mini, the manufacturer's claim is "nearly zero visible fumes", and that is the honest way to put it. You will see smoke for the first few minutes while the pit comes up to temperature, because secondary combustion needs heat to start. Once it is going properly, there is very little to see and very little to smell. It is not a magic trick — it is a hot fire burning its own smoke.

Will my guests still smell of campfire?

Far less, and that is the whole point. A regular open fire pit puts smoke straight at the people sitting around it, and it holds in hair and clothing and comes back inside on them. With a smokeless pit the smoke is being burnt off before it gets that far. Guests get the crackle, the light and the warmth without going to bed smelling of it — and your cushions and throws stay out of the laundry.

Does it use more firewood?

Less, in practice. A smokeless pit burns hotter and more completely, so more of each log turns into heat instead of drifting away as smoke. Dry, well-seasoned hardwood makes a noticeable difference on top of that — it is worth supplying the wood yourself rather than leaving guests to buy whatever is at the gas station.

Can I leave it outside?

The corten pieces, yes — that is what corten is for. Everything here will survive being left out, but any fire pit lasts longer covered or stored. The advantage of this range is that storing it is genuinely easy, because it folds flat.

How hard is it to put together?

The Farrier and Anvil are four pieces that slide together, no tools, a couple of minutes. One person can do it; two is easier. The Forge arrives in 14 pieces and the Forge Mini in 11, flat-packed, and both need nothing more than a coin or a flathead screwdriver.

What about local fire rules?

Smokeless helps with neighbors and with smoke complaints, but it is still a wood fire. Burn bans and permit requirements apply the same way. Check with your local fire department before you install anything, and if your area has frequent bans, a gas fire pit is the safer bet — see the full fire pit range.

What does delivery cost?

These are the smallest items in the whole fire pit range and they ship by parcel rather than on a freight truck, so delivery is far simpler than it is on a fire table. Your delivery cost is shown at checkout before you pay — you are not asked to hand over a card and find out afterwards, and we never mark shipping up. If you would rather have the number confirmed first, use the Request a Custom Quote button on the product page.
