by Ohio Flame

The Ohio Flame Lunar Fire Bowl takes the waning profile of the moon and casts it into a hand-forged vessel of fire, designed and crafted by artisan Matt Skillman. It's a quieter kind of statement piece, built for properties where the evening experience is about calm rather than spectacle. For hosts, the Lunar Fire Bowl gives a moonlit patio the centerpiece it's been missing.

Description

The Owner's Insights on the Lunar Fire Bowl

There's a particular stillness to a moonlit evening that a fire feature can either interrupt or deepen, and the Lunar is built for the latter. Designed and crafted by artisan Matt Skillman, its eclipsing, waning silhouette echoes the moon itself rather than competing with the night sky around it. It's crafted from thick carbon American steel, with the same no-maintenance durability found across every Ohio Flame piece. One honest note: this is a made-to-order artisan piece, so budget a standard two-week lead time before it ships.

Why You'll Love the Lunar Fire Bowl

  • Eclipsing, waning silhouette. A calmer, more contemplative presence than a piece built around the whole night sky.
  • Individually hand-crafted. Designed and made by Matt Skillman, Ohio Flame's founder, not a mass-produced fire pit off an assembly line.
  • Suits restorative, quiet properties. Reinforces a slower pace rather than demanding attention the way a bolder statement piece might.
  • Patina Finish that deepens naturally. Echoes the moon's own subtle shifts in tone over time.
  • Built-in Rain Drain system. Includes a 4" round blocking plate and centering tee if you'd rather close it off.
  • Lifetime warranty. Built to last well beyond a single season.

Why You Should Consider Ohio Flame

Ohio Flame's Artisan Collection is designed and hand-forged individually by founder Matt Skillman, not produced on a standard assembly line, so each Lunar carries a deliberately quiet, observational presence alongside the character of an individually made object. That same combination of artisan craftsmanship and lifetime-warrantied engineering runs across the rest of the Artisan Collection.

Shipping and Installation

The Lunar is hand-crafted to order, so budget a standard lead time of about 2 weeks from the time your order is placed before it's ready to ship. Once complete, we ship it free of charge within the continental USA; given the weight of the larger 37" and 41" sizes, those ship via freight, so inspect the fire bowl closely as soon as it arrives before signing off on delivery. No assembly is required, it's ready to place the moment it's uncrated. If you plan to use the blocking plate to close off the Rain Drain, have it on hand at delivery so it's ready to install right away.

quick to respond to questions and a couple snags on delivery time. They were proactive with an outreach vs waiting to miss a delivery date. Product is just as I hoped... solid metal firepit. Paid more than other sites offering metal firepits but metal thickness and build, i believe are worth it. No screws, no bend in the metal for rigidity. This is all metal, welded together....make sure you have a friend to help get it into place if you have any distance from the delivery spot to the fire pit final placement.

I went to the Ohio Flame website expecting to buy a fire pit. What I experienced instead was a rare moment of digital peace-like the internet briefly remembered its original purpose and decided to behave. The website is clean, fast, and shockingly competent. No pop-ups begging for my email. No countdown timers implying a fire pit is about to sell out in the next 47 seconds. No confusing dropdown menus that make you question whether you're ordering steel or accidentally enrolling in a newsletter about steel. Every step made sense. Product pages actually answered questions. Photos looked like real fire pits, not 'artist's renderings' that later arrive looking like a disappointment wrapped in cardboard. Pricing was transparent-no sudden 'processing fee,' 'emotional support fee,' or surprise charge for daring to live in a residential zip code. Checkout was smooth. My credit card went through on the first try, which in 2026 feels like a small miracle. I did not receive seven follow-up emails asking me if I was 'still thinking about it.' Ohio Flame respected my independence, my time, and my browser history. Communication after purchase was equally impressive. Clear confirmations. Real updates. No cryptic shipping messages like 'Label Created' that linger for weeks while your item apparently communes with the universe. When they said it was coming, it came. Radical concept. At no point did I feel confused, manipulated, rushed, or mildly enraged-which puts this online purchase experience in approximately the top 0.5% of the internet. If every company ran their e-commerce like Ohio Flame, we would be calmer as a society and significantly more trusting of checkout buttons. Five stars. No notes. I would buy from them again purely for the pleasure of not being annoyed.

I was very impressed with our experience buying from Ohio Flame. Nice selection of products, easy-to-use website (I missed the credit card ordering option, asked about it, as was responded to promptly), and faster than expected delivery. I was sold after reading about the company's high standards and origins. My husband and I were hoping the Liberty Tree looked as good in person as online; we were not disappointed. Since we enjoy outdoor fires year around, we will definitely get our money's worth.
