The Countertop

The island ships without a top. You have the stone cut locally, and that's the cheaper answer as well as the better looking one.

Stone is heavy, and shipping heavy things across the country is where the money goes. A local fabricator will almost always beat a shipped top once freight is in the number, and you get to choose from everything on their floor instead of one stone in one color: granite, quartz, soapstone, poured concrete, whatever suits the property.

How it works: you order the island, and we send you the cutout dimensions for the Blaze components going into it. Take those to any stone yard. Most will template off the assembled island, which is the most accurate way to do it anyway.

Call us before you order the stone. We'll tell you what holds up outdoors in your climate and what doesn't, and that conversation costs you nothing either way.

What You Order Separately

The grill and appliances are ordered separately. This is the island: the welded frame and the cladding. The top and the appliances are yours to source. The island is cut for Blaze components, specifically the BLZ-4LTE3 grill, BLZ-DDC-R-LTSC double door cabinet, and BLZ-TREC-DRW-H drawer set. Those are chosen because they're what the maker's dealers sell most. Other brands can be accommodated on a custom build. Tell us what you want in it and we'll work out the whole plan with you.

What Takes Real Work

Freight is a separate cost. Delivery isn't free and isn't included in the price. Checkout doesn't collect it only because we don't know your address until you order, and a crate this size gets priced address by address. We quote the real freight for where you are, send it as its own invoice, and it's paid before your grill island leaves the factory.

Level ground is not negotiable: concrete pad or solid pavers. If the site is sloped or soft, that's your prep work. Get it wrong and the grill won't sit level and the doors won't close right.

Gas connection is a professional job. Don't improvise it. You want it set right and tested, and that cost sits on top of the island.

Why Six Feet?

Seventy-two inches is the gathering size. Two people can work it at once and six can crowd around it. Big enough to be useful, not so big that the island becomes the whole patio.

If you're feeding smaller groups, we have smaller. If you're hosting properly and want two people cooking without colliding, look at the 8 ft island instead.

Honest About Lead Time

The factory is quoting 3 to 4 weeks from order to shipped. If the size and finish you want is already on the shelf, it leaves within 5 business days, which puts it on your patio in about two weeks. We check with the factory when you order and tell you which of those you're looking at before you commit.

Questions We Hear

Can I put this on a deck? Yes. That's one of the reasons the frame is aluminum. A clad island runs about 30 lb per linear foot, which the manufacturer describes as ideal for most wood decks or patios without footers. Have your builder confirm the load for your specific deck, but unlike a stone kitchen, this one is a realistic deck build.

Which cladding should I pick? The 4 x 4 slat is the middle ground and the most ordered. The 2 x 2 gives a finer, more repeated line that suits a modern patio. The 140 is a flat panel with no slat lines, which reads cleanest and hides dirt best on a property in constant use. All three are powder-coated aluminum needing no sealing and no seasonal maintenance, and none of them costs more than the others.

Where do I get the countertop? A local stone yard. We send you the Blaze cutout dimensions and they take it from there, usually templating off the assembled island once it's built. It costs less than a shipped top and you get the full range of materials. Call us if you want a second opinion on what to pick.

Can I add more later? Yes. The island is modular, so a side burner, a chiller, or a pizza oven can be added to the frame. You can plan it in phases.

Do I need a cover? Eventually, yes. It handles the weather, but a cover extends the life of everything in it, which matters more on a property in constant use.

Will it hold up in a cold climate? Yes. Aluminum doesn't crack through freeze and thaw. Make sure the base is stable, because frost heave will shift an unlevel pad, so proper installation matters more the colder it gets.

Is this cheaper than a custom builder? Usually, yes, and you get a working island in hours rather than waiting on masonry. The trade-off is that you're customizing within a system rather than designing from scratch.
