Fort Worth patios face one of two directions: the Trinity River, or the street.
The river ones — Clearfork, WestBend — are the scenic option and the ones visitors are pointed at. The Near Southside ones are where people actually spend their Tuesdays. Both are worth knowing about, and this list has two of each.
And like the rest of Texas, the season here runs opposite to most of the country.

1701 River Run, WestBend
A two-tiered patio on the Trinity, and one of Google's top patio results for the city with a rating that holds up across thousands of reviews. Two tiers matters more than it sounds — it means there's a version of the space with a view and a version that's sheltered.

Also on the Trinity, with a rooftop bar above the patio. They describe their outdoor space as one of the top outdoor dining areas in DFW, which is a bold claim in a metro this size, but the position on the river does a lot of the arguing for them.
The Bearded Lady
300 S Main St, Near Southside
A low-key gastropub with a dog-friendly patio, open since 2013. This is the counterweight to the river venues — no view, no concept, just a yard where you can sit for a long time.
Near Southside is the most walkable stretch in the city for this sort of thing.
Rogers Roundhouse
Fort Worth
Designed to feel like an extension of your own backyard, with picnic tables and thirty taps. That's their description and it's an accurate one — the appeal is that it doesn't feel like a restaurant patio at all.
Dog-friendly, and built for groups rather than couples.
When to actually go
Fort Worth runs the Texas calendar. Winter is good patio weather — afternoons in the fifties and sixties are normal through December and January, and a covered patio is comfortable rather than a challenge.
The hard months are late June through early September. In that stretch the only questions worth asking are whether the patio is covered and whether there's air moving. Shade is the whole game.
A practical note on timing
March through May and October through November are the good windows, and they're busy because everyone knows it.
The Stockyards run on a different rhythm to the rest of the city and stay busy year round. If you want a quiet table, the Near Southside is the better bet.
