Each domino is an 11-inch resin slab that weighs about a pound, and the whole stack slides into its own stand. The Hoopstr base fills with water from your hose, so it sits at about 210 lbs once it's full and stays planted by your pool.

Picture a full house on a Saturday. The kids are shooting hoops from the pool ledge while the adults play dominoes on the deck. Nobody is asking you where the games are, because they never left.

It suits your rental if it has a pool and a patio with room to spread out. It won't suit you if your pool has a vinyl liner, since the Hoopstr can damage it in the water. And if you only need games for one party, a cheaper set will do the job.

What Customers Say About the Oversized Games Set

Most reviews on Ledge's page for this set are for the Hoopstr, its centerpiece, which holds a 4.4 out of 5 from 22 reviews. Owners say it feels sturdy and steadier than other pool hoops they've tried, looks great, and keeps kids and groups busy for hours. Several like the built-in ball storage.

The complaints are about assembly. A few owners say the bolt holes didn't line up and a couple say the rim didn't sit level, while others say it went together easily. The Hoopstr works in chlorine and saltwater pools and can sit on a tanning ledge or baja shelf in up to 9 inches of water. It can also go on the pool coping, the patio or the lawn.

The one exception is vinyl. Ledge says the Hoopstr isn't compatible with vinyl-lined pools and may damage the liner. If your pool is vinyl, keep it on the coping or deck instead, and your guests can still shoot into the water.

How Much Space Does This Giant Lawn Games Set Need?

Plan your layout around the Hoopstr first. Its base is 40 inches long and the backboard is 32.5 inches wide, so give it a spot where players can stand back and shoot. Four In A Row is 34.5 inches wide and about waist height at 33 inches.

The board for giant tic tac toe and checkers is 31.5 inches square and plays flat on the ground or a table. Dominoes take the least room: the stand is 14 inches long, and your guests will want a clear patch of deck or lawn to lay the pieces out.

Setting Up Your Oversized Games

Three of the four games are ready out of the box. The Hoopstr takes about a dozen steps, and Ledge recommends two people. You bolt the backboard to the base, attach the rim, then fill the base with a garden hose until it overflows.

A tip from Ledge's guide that helps with the fit issues some owners mention: if you see a gap where the backboard meets the base, press the seam firmly by hand before you tighten the screws. Start all four screws by hand before tightening any of them.

Are These Good Backyard Games for Adults and Kids?

Yes, and that mix is the point. Hoopstr and giant 4 in a row get your kids moving, while giant dominoes and giant checkers give adults a slower game with a drink in hand. As lawn games for adults go, these double as pool games for adults too, since the Hoopstr turns your shallow end into a court. For a vacation rental, that means one set covers family groups, couples and friend trips without you guessing who's coming.

Caring for Your Games Set

Most messes wipe off your games with water and a soft brush or cloth. For a deeper clean, use a mild household cleaner, and a calcium remover if you see hard-water spots near the pool. Ask guests to put the Hoopstr ball back in its holder after play so it lasts longer. If you ever need to move the Hoopstr, tilt it back onto its wheels carefully. For long-term storage, drain the base away from the pool first.

Important Notes Before You Buy

Not for vinyl pools. The Hoopstr may damage vinyl pool liners.
